When I was in Lithuania two years ago, I wanted to visit the Hill bus, alas, it was not to be.

Your description of the Hill - "faith and defiance in times of oppression" pretty much sums up the stories I've heard told about it!

Sorry you missed it Steve. Very symbolic, of course (some recent Pope visited it not too long ago). In the Lithuanian cemetery in Toronto (actually next-door Mississauga) they have a smaller version as a memorial.
